The company that manufactures Acuvue Oasys Contact lenses recently announced that they will release a new contact lens that turns dark outside.  The lens will be know as Acuvue Oasys with Transitions and is expected to available in about one year (first half of 2019).

Transitions lenses are already available in eyeglasses, and help block UV light that is harmful to the human eye.  Acuvue Oasys with Transitions will be the first contact lens to turn dark after being exposed to UV light.

It is important to note that wearing sunglasses is still important to completely protect our eyes from UV light.

Modern Optometry will let you know as soon as these lenses are available to order!
